Rick Thomas is an entrepreneur, publisher, and author who has lived and led through three decades of continuous technological and social change.
In December 1996, he and his wife moved from their hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, to Anchorage, Alaska—where the only people they knew were each other. They thrived. Two years after arriving, they founded The CHARIOT Group, a commercial audiovisual company in a spare room of their home that grew into a nationally recognized firm serving education, Fortune 100 companies, and government agencies across the United States. From the remoteness of Alaska’s North Slope to the isolated reaches of the Aleutian chain, Rick introduced emerging technologies to individuals and organizations navigating constant disruption.
What he observed along the way reshaped his thinking. He realized that the resistance or enthusiasm he encountered in response to change was rarely about the technology itself—it was about identity and purpose, fear and possibility. In response, he founded The STRIVE Group in 2016 and launched STRIVE magazine, a leadership publication focused on how individuals and organizations respond to change, attracting contributors and readers in over 180 countries.
In 2023, Rick and his wife sold The CHARIOT Group and closed The STRIVE Group, allowing him to focus his attention on a question that had long been echoing in the background: How do we successfully navigate change—and who do we become when the certainty of the familiar is pulled from beneath?
Addressing that question is the foundation of The Seeker’s Mindset.
Rick and his wife, Denise, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“Too often, we mistake familiarity for truth, habit for choice, and inherited stories for identity. A Seeker’s Mindset begins by questioning what we have accepted without awareness.”
